In one sentence: Before using an AI tool with the organisation’s data, you need to know which country it is processed in, whether the supplier uses it for training, and how long it keeps it.
Three questions to ask before any tool
A cloud AI tool sends your texts to a supplier. Before you put client or staff data into it, three answers tell you whether it is acceptable. Business versions answer them, provided you read the contract.
- Which country?Switzerland, the European Union, the United States or elsewhere: Swiss law does not treat every country the same way.
- Does the supplier train on your data?The answer must be “no”, and it must be written in the contract.
- How long does it keep it?And can you have it deleted? Free versions rarely answer these questions well.
